The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has issued a passenger advisory, warning of potential flight cancellations and delays on May 7 due to ongoing airspace restrictions following India’s airstrikes (Operation Sindoor) in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday.

In an announcement shared via social media and official channels, Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) confirmed that "some flights have been cancelled" and advised passengers to verify their flight status with their respective airlines before traveling to the airport.

The passenger advisory on X reads, “Due to prevailing airspace restrictions, some flights have been cancelled on May 7, 2025. We request passengers to verify their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.”

In a post on social media platform X, “We're expecting impact on some flights across our network due to airspace restrictions. All passengers are requested to please check directly with your airline for the latest information. You can also find timely updates on their 'Twitter' (X) pages.”

The advisory follows increased military activity and the temporary closure of several airports in northern India after the Indian Air Force conducted precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives, including that of Bengaluru-based techie Bharat Bhushan.

Due to the ongoing security operations and sensitive airspace management, flights to and from the affected regions have been suspended or rerouted, leading to widespread disruptions in air traffic schedules across the country, including in Bengaluru.

Mock drills were conducted at 244 locations across the country on May 7, including Bengaluru City, Raichur, and Karwar in Karnataka.
