Bengaluru News: In a bizarre incident reported in Karnataka's Bengaluru, thieves decamped with an entire bus stop. Estimated at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, the stainless steel bus shelter located on Cunningham Road in Bengaluru vanished last month. However, the complaint was filed a month after the bus shelter was stolen.

The Bengaluru police said that it has filed an FIR regarding theft. The complainant, N Ravi Reddy, who is an associate vice president of a company in charge of the construction of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus shelters, registered a theft complaint on September 30. “We are finding out why the complainant took one month to file the complaint,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Shekhar HT, said.

“He has filed a complaint with the High Grounds police station with a lapse of one month. We are looking for the CCTV data in and around the case. Apart from that, we are going to investigate all available evidence and record statements of nearby shop owners,” added the DCP.

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said, "BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) is not constructing any bus stops... Now, BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) will construct and they will take advantage of the attachment (bus stop shelter). We are not constructing... Somebody removed that. I will talk to the commissioner and see that a new bus stop is there."

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is the administrative body responsible for civic amenities and some infrastructural assets of the Greater Bengaluru metropolitan area. In a similar incident, earlier, in March a three-decade-old bus stand in the HRBR Layout in Kalyan Nagar of Bengaluru vanished overnight.
