Bengaluru Student Viral Video: A 22-year-old student at Sindhi College in Kempapura area of Bengaluru has been detained by the police for the fatal stabbing of a security guard on the college campus. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the student, identified as Bhargav Jyoti Burman, a third-year BA student, attempted to re-enter the college premises after participating in the college's annual festival.

According to the police, Burman had initially left the campus around noon, but was warned by Jai Kishan Roy, the college's discipline in-charge, that he would not be allowed back in if he did so, in accordance with the college's rules. Despite the warning, Burman left the campus.

When he later tried to re-enter, the security guard on duty, Jai Kishan Roy, denied him entry. Witnesses reported that Burman appeared to be intoxicated, which only exacerbated the situation. After being refused entry a second time, Burman grew increasingly agitated, though he did not react immediately.

However, when Burman returned for a third attempt around 2:10 pm and was once again prevented from entering, he reportedly pulled out a knife that he had recently purchased and attacked Roy, stabbing him multiple times in the chest. As the guard lay bleeding profusely, Burman fled the scene.

At least two other security guards and several students standing in the security line witnessed the incident, according to the police. Bystanders rushed the critically injured Roy to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

"The college organised its annual fest on Wednesday and implemented extensive security measures to prevent any incidents," a police officer close to the investigation told reporters.

The college authorities had informed students in advance that they would not be allowed back in once they left the campus. Raman Gupta, the Additional Commissioner of Police (East), confirmed that the suspect had walked out of the campus once and tried to return, but was stopped by the guard. After being denied entry a second time, he became enraged and attacked the guard on his third attempt.

While the preliminary medical examination indicated that the death was caused by massive blood loss, the police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Initial investigations suggest that Burman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack and his blood sample has been sent for further testing.

According to Deccan Herald report, a lecturer at the college described Burman as a "bright student" whose academic performance did not always reflect his capabilities. Burman, a native of Assam, had previously dropped out of a BPharma course before joining the BA programme at Sindhi College.
