The infamous Ejipura bridge of Bengaluru is not set to get operational by March 2026, after multiple delays since tendered in 2017. The 2.38 km long flyover, aimed at easing the city’s worst traffic snarls, is not expected to be completed by March 2026, the Hindu reported.
The Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP) has directed the engineers to move with work at a brisk pace and ensure that the latest deadline is not missed.
The work of flyover, originally tendered in 2017, reinitiated in 2023, was scheduled to be completed by December 2025, but with the latest developments, the project is now expected to be completed by March 2026.
Core work like segment casting, erection, and span installation, are currently underway and expected to be completed by December. An additional three months have been allocated for final touches, such as asphalting the stretch, the report added.

To accelerate progress, Rao has instructed teams to cast a minimum of 45 segments monthly. Segment casting is underway at a facility in Sakalavara village on Bannerghatta Road, with components transported to the site in batches.
The flyover will connect Ejipura to Madiwala, featuring:
- Entry and exit ramps near St. John’s
- A loop ramp toward Sarjapur Road (approximately 110 meters from the main exit)
However, final land acquisition near St. John’s remains pending, with discussions reportedly nearing completion.

The project suffered several setbacks after it was originally tendered in 2017 by the initial contractor. Multiple re-tendering attempts met with failure before BSCPL was given the opportunity.
