A Bengaluru family decked their Ganesha statue with a gold necklace but failed to remove it before immersion. After a 10-hour hunt, the family was able to recover the ornament. The incident happened at Vijayanagar, Bengaluru, close to Dasarahalli Circle, according to a Times of India report.

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Ramaiya and Uma Devi placed a Ganpati statue in their home.

The pair embellished the idol with flowers and jewellery and offered a 60-gram gold chain, which was estimated to be worth Rs 4 lakh.

On Saturday night, they went to a mobile tank to submerge the deity. When they were done with the ritual, they realised they had forgotten to take the gold chain off the idol.

An hour later, they went back to the immersion site to look for their gold necklace. A few individuals who had been at the tank during the immersion mentioned that they had seen the chain but believed it was fake.

The pair then sought assistance from the Magadi Road Police Station and Govindraj Nagar MLA Priya Krishna.

The MLA spoke with Lankesh D, the contractor who installed the tank. Despite their best attempts, the young men around the tank were unable to locate the chain. Eventually, the family was granted permission to drain the 10,000-liter tank of water.

The search for the gold chain continued till the next day, among the dirt remnants of other Ganesha sculptures. The ornament was eventually located and returned to the couple. The search operation encompassed around ten persons.
