Bengaluru News: The second phase of the Hebbal flyover ramp expansion is moving quickly towards completion and is expected to be opened to traffic by mid-December, officials from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) have confirmed. The new stretch will connect the Tumakuru Road loop, located inside the tree park near the junction, to the under-construction ramp coming from the Baptist Hospital side.
Fresh Link Expected To Ease Hebbal Congestion
The News Karnataka report cited Officials as stating that, the new link is designed to ease one of Bengaluru’s most congested points. The fresh alignment will add more lanes for vehicles coming from the Esteem Mall service road and Tumakuru Road, offering a smoother flow towards Mehkri Circle. The Hebbal junction has long faced heavy traffic, especially from commuters arriving from Kempegowda International Airport. BDA hopes this connection will significantly ease movement in the area.

Earlier, there were discussions about extending the ramp up to Esteem Mall to provide direct access for airport-bound vehicles, but the plan was eventually dropped.
First Phase Reduced Traffic By Up To 30 Per Cent
The first phase of the project was completed in August, when BDA linked the Baptist Hospital ramp with the older loop carrying vehicles from KR Pura. Traffic police said this partial opening reduced congestion at Hebbal by nearly 20–30 per cent. However, with traffic moving faster through the junction, Mehkri Circle, around 3 km away, saw a rise in vehicle pressure. Officials believe the upcoming connection to the Tumakuru Road loop will balance this load and further improve traffic flow.
According to BDA, the final structural work is progressing at a rapid pace. Three spans are required to complete the link, one is already in place, and the remaining two are expected to be installed within a week. After that, concrete deck work will begin. The agency is confident the new ramp will be ready for public use by mid-December.
