Bengaluru News:  In a major move to reduce traffic snarls at the busy Bengaluru Hebbal Flyover junction, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has planned to construct a new flyover. The new flyover will start from the Nagawara side and connect directly to the National Highway leading towards the Kempegowda International Airport.

According to the BDA sources, the authorities have approved the construction of the new Bengaluru Hebbal Flyover, and a detailed project report is being prepared. The officials are looking for the possibility to reuse 11 huge concrete pillars in construction that were left unused in 2019 for an earlier ramp project. The BDA will check whether it is possible to use the pillars in the upcoming project.

The new Hebbal Flyover aims to reduce traffic jams for vehicles coming from Nagawara and heading towards the airport via the National Highway.

Currently, traffic from Nagawara, Tumakuru Road, and Mehkri Circle all come into a stretch below the flyover, causing persistent traffic jams. Commuters opt to beat the traffic by using smaller inner roads through Kempapura and then joining the service road near Esteem Mall to get onto Hebbal Flyover, increasing traffic on the roads.

The new flyover is expected to reduce traffic pressure on the existing roads and aims to provide smoother access to airport-bound vehicles. As per BDA sources, the flyover will be less than a kilometre long. The downward ramp will be built near the defence land, close to Hebbal Lake. The flyover would provide a practical solution to the ongoing, persistent traffic problems.
