Bengaluru News: Bengaluru police have registered a case of alleged harassment and exploitation after a woman from Puttenahalli accused her husband and in-laws of abuse. The complaint includes charges of blackmail, intimidation and physical assault, with the husband now absconding.
The woman stated that she married Syed Inamul Haq in December 2024, just two months after their engagement. At the time of marriage, she said her family gave 340 grams of gold ornaments and a Yamaha bike. Soon after, she discovered that her husband had been married earlier and admitted to maintaining relationships with several other women.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that her husband secretly fixed a camera in their bedroom, recorded intimate videos and circulated them among his contacts abroad. She further said he forced her to have physical relations with his associates outside the country and threatened to leak the videos when she resisted.
The woman also described incidents of repeated assault. She said her husband harassed her in public places, hotels and even at her parents’ home. In one instance, he allegedly demanded that she sell her jewellery to buy a flat, and when she refused, he assaulted her.
Her complaint also mentions the involvement of in-laws. During a family event earlier this year, her sister-in-law allegedly humiliated her, while her brother-in-law behaved in a sexually inappropriate manner. On September 21, she said her husband attacked her during an argument before leaving the house.
Police have booked the husband along with other family members under multiple charges. Officials confirmed that the prime accused is absconding and efforts are underway to trace him.
