Air India Express, in its advisory on Friday, stated that the direct flight services between Bengaluru and Kathmandu will commence on June 1. The firm stated that the services will provide a major convenience to the residents of Bengaluru and other nearby regions. The press release from the firm also stated that the direct flight services will improve the connectivity between the southern states of India and Nepal.
"The new route builds on our recent expansion into short-haul international leisure destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket," Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, stated in a press release. The authorities stated that the passengers can book the flight ticket from the airline's website, airindiaexpress.com, and from the websites of other travel sites. While providing details, the authorities stated that the inaugural fares start at Rs 8,000 for Xpress Lite and Rs 8,500 for Xpress Value, reported PTI.
The authorities further stated that the flight will depart at 5.05 am daily from Bengaluru and will depart Kathmandu at 9.05 am. The new route also enables convenient one-stop connections to Kathmandu via Bengaluru from 20 cities across India, including Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Goa, Gwalior, Hindon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jammu, Jaipur, Kozhikode, Kochi, Mangaluru, Pune, Srinagar, Surat, Tiruchirappalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada, reported PTI.
One-stop connections via Bengaluru are also available from Abu Dhabi and Dammam. Air India Express currently operates over 450 weekly flights from Bengaluru, offering direct connectivity to 31 destinations, the report informed.
Earlier last month, aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu had stated that the central government is determined to improve the connectivity among the top Indian cities. “Strengthening connectivity between developing cities is a priority for our ministry. This service will play a vital role in facilitating swift travel, supporting both economic and social growth,” Naidu had stated.
