In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife and tried to pass it off as an accidental death in Karnataka's BengaluruThe police have arrested the accused husband, who staged the murder to appear as an accidental electrocution, according to a report by NDTV.

The 32-year-old accused, who belongs to Vijayanagara district, married the woman just nine months back after meeting her on Instagram. 

The victim was a widow at the time of marriage to the accused. She has a 15-year-old daughter from her first marriage. The woman was found dead in the bathroom of her apartment in Bengaluru's Maragondanahalli on the evening of October 15.

Step-daughter exposes crime 

Initially, the accused husband told the family members that she had died of an electric shock from a water heater.

The police, however, grew suspicious after the victim's daughter told them that the couple had an argument the previous day and that she saw the door of the bathroom locked from the outside when she returned home.

Accused confesses crime

The victim's sister lodged a police complaint, after which an FIR was registered against the accused on October 16. The police arrested the accused and interrogated him. During the questioning, he confessed to the crime.

He told the police that he strangled his wife in a fit of rage, as he suspected her of cheating.

He said that he staged the scene to make it look like an accident. On October 17, the police produced him before the court. The court remanded him to judicial custody. The further investigation into the case was underway.
