Bengaluru News: A 41-year-old software engineer, identified as Srikant, has been arrested for allegedly harassing a 21-year-old woman and attempting to force her into a relationship. The incident occurred on April 8 near the Deve Gowda petrol bunk in Banashankari, where Srikant reportedly assaulted the woman and a male friend with a paper cutter before fleeing the scene.

Srikant, who lives in Kamalanagar and works at an IT firm, had been persistently harassing the woman, who was previously a tenant at his home for about a year. Despite being married, he continued to pursue her, leading her to inform his wife about his behaviour.

Although the woman intended to file a complaint at the Basaveshwaranagar police station, no action was taken at that time and Srikant was merely warned by the police before being released.

In separate news, a woman was reportedly sexually harassed by an unidentified man in Bengaluru’s BTM Layout area on Thursday. The accused fled immediately after the incident. CCTV footage from the spot captured the man approaching two women walking through a narrow, deserted lane lined with parked two-wheelers. As seen in the video, the man came up from behind and allegedly groped one of the women before quickly running away. The women, after the sudden assault, continued walking from the location.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the man using the available CCTV evidence.
