Bengaluru Metro: Bengaluru’s Nagasandra metro station experienced significant crowds on Monday morning following the festive weekend. Long queues formed outside the station, highlighting the high number of commuters. Many are calling for the immediate opening of the Nagasandra-Madavara line, which could help ease the congestion.
The Hindustan Times report quoted a Local resident Rajath as questioning why the line has not yet been inaugurated despite receiving all necessary approvals. “It has been over a month since the inspection and approval, yet ordinary citizens are still waiting. It’s disheartening as a Bangalorean,” he stated.
Another commuter, Ayushman Raina, pointed out the scale of the problem, noting, “There was a queue of 500 people to enter Nagasandra Metro Station. If the Green Line had been extended, the load would be shared among three additional stations, easing the burden.”

A video captured from an auto rickshaw has gained traction online, demonstrating the challenges faced by metro users in the city. Bipin Domy Thomas shared the footage on social media, stating, “Check out this video showing the long line of people waiting to get into the Nagasandra metro station on a busy Monday morning. Bengaluru traffic is no joke.”
In early October, the 3.7-kilometre extension of the Green Line received approval from the Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) and was anticipated to open in the second or third week of the month. However, no official date has been set for the inauguration, leaving commuters in uncertainty.
Bengaluru Metro: Green Line New Stations
The elevated extension will feature three new stations: Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu and Madavara. Once operational, it is expected to improve connectivity for those travelling to key areas in North Bengaluru.
