Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: In a bid to strengthen public transport connectivity in the city’s eastern corridor, the Bangalore Metro Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is likely to extend its services further towards the outskirts with a proposed link between KR Puram and Hoskote. The line will be an extension of the existing Pink Line, with the proposed corridor currently undergoing a feasibility study. A Delhi-based software solutions company, Introsoft Solutions Private Limited, has been tasked to evaluate the project and provide a workable solution to tackle the congestion of Bangalore traffic.

Once completed, the project is expected to strengthen the metro connectivity in the outskirts of the city, primarily in the Benniganahalli and the Whitefield areas. The new corridor is expected to significantly ease daily travel once operational.

Double Decker Corridor On KR Puram-Hoskote Line

A double-decker model has also been planned as part of the feasibility study. Under this, a metro line and a flyover will be integrated into a single structure. The corridor will pass through major stretches of the city, such as the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway, the Satellite Ring Road and the proposed Bengaluru Business Corridor. Key locations along the proposed route include Budigere Cross, Katamnallur Gate Flyover and Hoskote Toll Plaza, officials said.

KR Puram-Hoskote Metro Line

The deadline for the completion of the KR Puram-Hoskote metro line is still not out yet. The BMRCL will start making a detailed project report (DPR) once the feasibility study of the same is completed. The extension is part of the larger proposed Namma Metro Phase IV expansion aimed at improving connectivity to the eastern outskirts and Bengaluru Rural district, helping to reduce heavy traffic congestion on the Old Madras Road.
