Bengaluru Metro Update: The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has made temporary changes to metro services due to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) victory celebration event.
From 4:30 PM today, trains will not halt at Cubbon Park and Dr B R Ambedkar Vidhana Soudha stations until further notice. The move comes in view of heavy crowd gatherings expected near Vidhana Soudha and Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the team felicitation is being held.

Additionally, the sale of tokens and QR tickets at both stations has been temporarily suspended.
BMRCL has advised commuters to plan their travel in advance and use alternate metro stations. Passengers are also urged to follow instructions from metro staff to avoid inconvenience.
These changes have been made to control passenger flow and ensure safety during the high-traffic event.
This action followed a stampede that took place earlier in the evening near the stadium, leaving 11 people dead and 33 injured. A large crowd had gathered in Central Bengaluru to welcome the RCB team after their first IPL title win. What was meant to be a joyous celebration turned into chaos due to overcrowding and lack of effective crowd management.
To handle the surge of people, metro authorities closed access to stations nearest the venue. Despite these measures, crowding was reported across multiple Purple Line stations, including Halasuru, Trinity and Indiranagar. Inside trains, compartments were overfilled and frequent announcements were made urging passengers not to push or block doors.
Emergency services stayed on alert throughout the evening, and injured fans were taken to Bowring Hospital. Heavy police presence remained around the stadium and metro stations to prevent further incidents.
