Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) reportedly conducted a trial run on the much-awaited Pink Line on Saturday. The officials stated that the trial run was conducted between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere metro stations, adding that track alignment, signalling systems, and overall safety standards are being assessed. They further stated that the Pink Line is set to boost the regional connectivity significantly. The BMRCL has asserted that the operation of the Pink Line will provide relief to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.
The trial runs are being conducted to ensure safety for the passengers ahead of the operation and mark a major step towards the launch, reported News First Prime. The metro authority had informed that the 21.25-kilometer-long Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara will open in phases. It further stated that the first phase of the corridor from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is likely to begin operation by May 2026. The elevated stretch will include six metro stations, connecting key regions of the city.
“We will open the elevated section of the Pink Line with five trains by June 2026. All 16 trains will be delivered for the Pink Line by the time the entire stretch (Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara) is opened for commercial service in December 2026,” a BMRCL official was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.
Pink Line To Boost Connectivity
The Pink Line is likely to begin full operation by the end of 2026. The corridor is likely to significantly improve the connectivity by linking the northern and southern regions. Along with improving the connectivity, the metro line will also provide relief to thousands of commuters by reducing the traffic congestion. Along with this, the stretch is also likely to boost the financial activities in the region.
