Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: In a major relief to the commuters of the Yellow Line, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is reportedly set to introduce the fourth trainset on September 10. The authority stated that the train will be launched after conducting basic tests, adding that the operation of an additional test will provide relief to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time. The officials stated that the operation of the fourth train will improve the frequency from the current 25 minutes to 18-20 minutes. Earlier last month, the BMRCL stated that almost 60,000 passengers are travelling on the yellow line on a daily basis, which is likely to improve further after the operation of additional trains.

While providing details, the officials stated that while the fifth train is likely to be dispatched from Titagarh by September 19, the sixth train might get dispatched by the last week of October. “This will improve frequency from the existing 25 minutes (with three trains) to 18-20 minutes. We are also expecting the fifth train to be dispatched from Titagarh by September 19 and the sixth in the last week of October,” Moneycontrol reported, citing sources.

Apart from this, BMRCL Chief PRO BL Yeshwanth Chavan also stated that the operation of an additional trainset will further improve the ridership. “Yellow Line has a daily ridership of around 80,000, including interchange passengers. We are planning to induct fourth train this week, which will bring down the frequency to around 20 minutes,” Chavan was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.

The BMRCL also stated that the fifth train will also be launched in the upcoming two to three months, further boosting the regional connectivity. The Yellow Line has provided relief to thousands of IT professionals as it connects multiple parts of the city to the Electronic City.
