Bengaluru News: A 23-year-old woman died in a road accident late on Saturday night in Yelahanka, Bengaluru. The victim, identified as Ishani Sarkar from Odisha, was waiting by the roadside when she was struck by a speeding car.

Police said Ishani was travelling with a friend on the Kempegowda International Airport expressway when their motorbike ran out of fuel. While her friend went to get petrol, she remained near the bike. A car coming at high speed failed to notice her and ran into her, killing her instantly.

Officials stated that her friend is still in shock and not ready to give a full statement. The Yelahanka police are gathering more details about Ishani and have started efforts to trace the driver of the car.

In separete news, a man carrying a knife allegedly entered a women’s paying guest accommodation in southeastern Bengaluru early on August 29, harassed a resident and fled with cash, police said.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman staying at Laxmana Durga Ladies PG in BTM 1st Stage, told police she was asleep between 3 am and 4 am when she sensed someone in her room. Initially thinking it was her roommate, she was shocked to see a man touching her. When she protested, the intruder reportedly threatened her with a knife and assaulted her before escaping with Rs 2,500.

Police said the man had also locked another room from outside before entering her room. CCTV footage shows him covering his face with a handkerchief, inside the room for around two minutes, before being chased out by the woman. He left using the same staircase he had entered through.

An investigation is ongoing and authorities are reviewing leads to trace the suspect.
