Bengaluru News: A 36-year-old dancer, who had featured in several television reality shows, died after being hit by a truck while checking his car on a highway near Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Sudheendra, had recently purchased a new Maruti Suzuki Eeco and was driving from Bengaluru to Tyamagondlu in Bengaluru Rural district to show the vehicle to his brother. On noticing a technical issue, he parked the car on the side of the highway near Pemmanahalli in Nelamangala taluk to inspect it.

A video of the incident shows Sudheendra standing beside his car as a truck approaches from a distance. The vehicle suddenly swerves towards the parked car and hits him with full force, trapping him between the truck and the Eeco. The truck then turns left in an apparent attempt to avoid further impact but stops shortly after the collision.

According to a NDTV report, Sudheendra died on the spot due to severe injuries. The truck driver fled the scene but was later arrested by officers from the Dabaspete police station.

According to police officials, the driver claimed he had dozed off while driving, leading to the fatal accident. “The driver has said he fell asleep while driving. We are verifying the claim,” an officer said.

In separate news, a late-night road rage incident in Bengaluru’s Ashok Nagar area turned violent on Monday, leaving multiple people injured. Police said cab driver Mohammed Imran, 23, was attacked with a sword by a rival group led by Rahil following an argument on the road. Imran was hospitalised, and a case of attempted murder was registered. In retaliation, another group later stormed Rahil’s house in Austin Town and assaulted his family, injuring his parents and brother. Rahil’s father collapsed outside the police station and was admitted to Victoria Hospital. Two separate cases have been filed, and police are investigating both attacks.
