Bengaluru News: Authorities in Bengaluru have launched an investigation after a video surfaced allegedly showing an undertrial prisoner celebrating his birthday inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. The video, which has gone viral on social media, features Srinivasa alias “Gubbachhi Seena,” a known rowdy sheeter, cutting a cake and wearing a garland made of apples.

Seena, who is currently lodged in the prison on murder charges, can be seen surrounded by other inmates during the celebration. Police officials said they are verifying when the video was recorded and how it was filmed, given that mobile phones are strictly banned inside the jail.

Incident Believed To Be Months Old

Political Reaction To Viral Clip

The video has sparked criticism of the Congress-led state government. BJP leader and former IPS officer Bhaskar Rao took to X (formerly Twitter) to question how such an event could occur inside a central prison.

Rao wrote, “A massive cake enters the jail and a rowdy celebrates his birthday with impunity while it’s recorded and shared online. Governance has gone to the pits.”

He also accused the Siddaramaiah-led government of poor law enforcement and cited the incident as an example of deteriorating prison discipline in the state.
