The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a week-long rain for Bengaluru, with the IT hub bracing for partly cloudy skies and sporadic rain from May 14 to May 19. The IMD stated that the weather outlook indicates minimum temperatures of around 23 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 33 degrees Celsius in Bengaluru this week.
Bengaluru is expected to experience one or two spells of rain or thundershowers between Tuesday and Friday while the forecast for the next two days suggests a continuation of partly cloudy conditions, with a low possibility of rain or thunderstorms in the city, the meteorological department said.

The recent spate of heavy rainfall and strong winds in Bengaluru, between May 6 and 12, led to over 1,000 trees being uprooted, causing significant disruptions. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the city’s civic agency, has been actively working to clear the roads that were blocked due to the falling of trees.

BBMP is also considering a new strategy in response to the challenge as the civic body is contemplating the sale of fallen branches directly on-site, rather than transporting them to forest depots. This initiative aims to reduce road blockages and ensure unhindered movement for both vehicles and pedestrians, which marks a shift in handling post-storm clean-up in the garden city.
