Bengaluru Viral News: A social media post by a Bengaluru based woman has gone viral, sparking widespread discussion about rising class tensions, public behaviour and the changing social dynamics in Karnataka’s capital.
In her post, the woman, who identifies as a Kannadiga from a tier-2 city in the state, expressed frustration over the city's growing hostility. “I’m a Kannadiga and I’m done defending Bengaluru. This city deserves the hate it’s getting,” she wrote.

She described an incident where she was ridiculed by a BMTC bus conductor while trying to board a bus during a phone call. The conductor allegedly made a sarcastic remark in Kannada: “Stylish agi phone hold maadi door knock maadthidiya?”—which translates to, “you are stylishly knocking on the door while holding your phone?”
Calling the incident “unnecessarily humiliating,” the woman noted it wasn’t a one-off case. She expressed frustration over what she sees as growing hostility among public transport staff, saying they often appear angry and ready to lash out, especially at those who seem urban or affluent.
The woman went on to say, “There’s this strange mix of entitlement and insecurity. I’m just tired. Bengaluru feels increasingly soulless.”

Her post resonated with many Bengalureans, including professionals who migrated from other parts of Karnataka. Several users echoed her views, describing similar instances of perceived targeted rudeness by auto drivers, metro workers and BMTC staff.
One user pointed out that such behaviour may stem from deeper issues, including job dissatisfaction and the stress of dealing with crowds daily. Another comment highlighted that public frustration is rising as the city’s infrastructure deteriorates—roads remain damaged, drainage systems are poor and metro work is slow. “Instead of fixing these core issues, people end up venting their anger on strangers,” the user added.
