Bengaluru Viral News: A social media post by a woman seeking a flatmate has gone viral, but not for the reasons she intended. The woman, known as Vanshita on X, is searching for a female flatmate to share her 3BHK apartment in a prime area of Bengaluru. While she requests a “Hindi-speaking” vegetarian, she also specifies that the ideal candidate should be comfortable with “alcohol, smoke, and loud music.”
Vanshita’s post details her preference for a young, easy-going flatmate who can move in “immediately.” She stated that her new roommate should be at ease with guests, pets and her lifestyle, which includes drinking and smoking.
The monthly rent for the available room is set at Rs 17,000, which includes amenities like a large bed, mattress, air conditioning, geyser, storage units, wardrobe and a wall-mounted desk. The room also features an attached washroom and a balcony. Potential flatmates will need to pay a security deposit of Rs 70,000, alongside the first month’s rent and a Rs 12,000 setup fee.

— Vanshita (@yourswriterly) October 12, 2024
looking for my replacement in a fully furnished 3bhk in wilson garden, bangalore to move in immediately.
someone young, xx chromosomes, easy-going, won’t mind guests, pets, loud music, alcohol or smoke; preferably vegetarian and hindi speaking.
share please, TIA pic.twitter.com/ZfeyT9aztb
Situated on the second floor in Wilson Garden, the apartment is equipped with essential appliances, including a fridge and washing machine. Vanshita expressed her enthusiasm for a flatmate who could bring a TV, as the apartment currently lacks one. However, she mentioned that the building does not have a lift.
While Vanshita stated the flat's advantages, such as its closeness to the metro, cafes and parks, her request has drawn criticism. Many users pointed out the inconsistency in wanting a vegetarian flatmate while also permitting smoking and alcohol. One user remarked, “Non-veg isn’t allowed in my house either, but smoking and alcohol aren’t allowed as well.”
In her response, Vanshita clarified, “It’s not about health. This is a flatmate requirement post. It’s about comfort and peace in the house. I don’t mind any form of cooked food but can’t stand the sight of raw meat.”
Another social media user humorously added, “I wish I was a girl right now. Good advertisement. The only thing missing is Virat Kohli as the brand ambassador for this flat.”
