Traffic jams continue to be a major problem for a large number of people in many cities in India. A recent report by the 2024 TomTom Traffic Index, which tracks the issue of traffic from “387 cities across 55 countries on 6 continents," has mentioned two Indian cities among Asia's worst cities in terms of traffic.

According to the report, London took the top spot in the global chart. Bengaluru was ranked 6th, where the commuters lose 132 hours annually. After Bengaluru, Pune grabbed the seventh spot, where people spend an average of 27 minutes and 10 seconds in traffic, which is 128 extra hours. Besides, Indian cities such as New Delhi and Mumbai also appear in the list, with 44 and 54 ranks, respectively.

Statista wrote on Instagram, “In the first place are Asia’s worst cities for traffic. In Bengaluru, drivers spend an average of 28 minutes and 10 seconds per 10 km in traffic, totalling about 132 extra hours in rush hour annually, according to the TomTom Traffic Index 2023. Pune, Manila, and Taichung also rank among the slowest city centres in Asia, while London tops the global list with the longest travel times."
