Bhopal News: Tension gripped the Danish Hills Colony in Bhopal’s Kolar area on Saturday night after a group of delivery riders from quick-commerce company Blinkit allegedly stormed into a house, attacked domestic workers and misbehaved with a woman resident following a payment dispute.
According to the police, the incident began when the woman placed an order through the Blinkit app. When the delivery rider arrived, she attempted to pay part of the amount in cash and the rest online. The rider reportedly refused, insisting on full payment through a single mode, either entirely in cash or online. An argument broke out and the household staff intervened, asking the rider to leave the premises.
Delivery Rider Returns With Group
A short while later, the same rider allegedly returned with several of his colleagues from a nearby Blinkit warehouse. The group, armed with sticks, attacked two domestic workers standing outside the house and created panic in the neighbourhood.
According to a NDTV report, eyewitnesses told the police that the delivery riders also misbehaved with the woman and damaged property before fleeing the scene. “Nearly 50 to 60 delivery boys had gathered outside the house, shouting and threatening residents. It was a frightening situation,” a local resident said.
Residents Demand Action
Following the attack, several residents from the colony gathered at the Kolar Police Station, demanding immediate arrests and stricter checks on delivery workers. They alleged that the group seemed organised, with riders summoned from Blinkit outlets located outside the Kolar jurisdiction.
Police Investigation Underway
Kolar Police Station in-charge Sanjay Soni confirmed that an FIR has been registered under charges of assault, criminal intimidation, and abuse. “The accused fled after the attack. We are analysing CCTV footage and digital evidence to identify them. Action will be taken against everyone involved,” he said.
So far, no arrests have been made. The police are continuing their search for the suspects. Meanwhile, Blinkit has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
