The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning in various states on Sunday. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are expected to receive heavy rains, while light to moderate rainfall is likely in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

Kedarnath Yatra Disrupted Due To Landslide

A 15-meter section of the Kedarnath trekking route near Jungle Chatti collapsed on Friday night due to a landslide, halting the pilgrimage on Saturday. More than 5,000 pilgrims returning from Kedarnath were safely redirected through an alternative route to Gaurikund. No new pilgrims were allowed to proceed from Gaurikund and Sonprayag, leaving over 3,000 pilgrims stranded.

Floods Wreak Havoc In Bihar

In Bihar, water levels in the Ganges, Son and their tributaries continue to fluctuate, with many areas experiencing worsening flood conditions. Districts such as Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai and Begusarai saw a rise in water levels on Saturday, with many areas inundated by floodwaters. A section of National Highway 80, between Munger and Bhagalpur, was submerged under 1.5 feet water. The Central Water Commission reported that the water level has risen by 15 cm in the past 24 hours.

Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Patna and Vaishali districts. He also met victims in relief camps and directed officials to ensure that all necessary relief measures were provided to those displaced by the floods.

Death Toll Spike And School Closure In Munger

Floods have claimed five lives across several regions in Munger. In response to the deteriorating situation, local authorities have closed 151 schools in Munger district until September 25. The Ganges River in Munger is flowing 57 cm above the danger mark, with water spreading across several neighbourhoods in the town. Lakhisarai’s 17 panchayats are heavily affected by floods, while Begusarai continues to face rapid inundation. In Katihar, the Ganges, Kosi, Kari Kosi and Barandi rivers have breached danger levels, impacting surrounding areas. In Samastipur, 19 panchayats are also submerged.

Delhi: Partial Cloud Cover And Rain Forecast In Coming Days

The IMD has predicted that starting Sunday, the skies in Delhi will remain partly cloudy for the next three days. There is also a little chance of rainfall during this period. Sunday's maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C, while the minimum temperature may hover around 25°C. Light rainfall is expected between Wednesday and Friday, which could lead to a temperature drop of 2-3°C.

Situation Critical in West Bengal’s Flood-Hit Areas

Although water levels have begun to recede in flood-affected areas of West Bengal, large parts of the state still remain submerged. The situation is particularly concerning in districts such as Howrah, Hooghly, and West Midnapore. Many villages are still under waist-deep or knee-deep water. Local authorities are using boats to deliver relief supplies to stranded residents and to transport people to hospitals. Around 10,000 people are currently sheltered in around 500 relief camps across the state.
