Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s close aid Monu Kalyane was shot dead by a few miscreants on Saturday night in Indore, Jagran.com reported. Following the incident, angry locals vandalised and set fire to the homes of the accused. 

Notably, BJP leader Monu was scheduled to lead a Bhagwa Yatra on Sunday. Late on Saturday night, he was busy with preparations along with his associates, putting up flags and banners. During this time, some individuals attacked and killed him. The police have named two people as accused in the murder.

As per the police, the incident occurred around 2 AM near Ganesh Mandal in the vicinity of Chimanbagh. Monu, son of Rajendra Kalyane and a resident of Usha Phatak, was putting up flags and banners with his brother and friends. Monu had planned to lead the Bhagwa Yatra from Chimanbagh to Rajwada on Sunday. Suddenly, two miscreants arrived and opened fire.

Monu was shot in the chest, and another bullet grazed his right arm. His companions rushed him to MY Hospital in critical condition, but the doctors declared him dead.

“The situation is still tense near the Chiman Bagh crossroad where BJP leader Monu Kalyane was shot in the chest by two assailants. We have deployed forces to keep the situation under control,” News 18 quoted Indore ACP Vinod Dixit as saying.

Monu was a close supporter of Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya. He was very active in Assembly Constituency Number 3. He was also an office bearer in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
