Among the crowd, one supporter was seen carrying a life-size cutout of PM Modi. In the video, he can be seen making multiple rounds of Mamata's residence while repeatedly shouting 'Chor Mamata'. The man then stopped in front of the gate, brandishing the cutout and pointing toward it in a symbolic gesture.
The situation escalated when two other men on a motorcycle got down from the vehicle and waved a huge BJP flag. During the encounter, a man, believed to be the gatekeeper, intervened and requested the group to leave.
This led to a heated exchange of words. At one point, one of the protestors was heard saying, "We have been giving Rs 10 lakh."
Despite the intervention, the group continued to chant 'chor Mamata' and 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. The scene grew more crowded after another group arrived in an autorickshaw flanked by BJP flags.
Security Outside Residence Of Mamata, Nephew Abhishek Scaled Down
In a separate development on Wednesday morning, security arrangements outside the residences of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee were scaled down. Kolkata Police officials clarified that security was not withdrawn, but only an extra deployment had been removed, which was being used for law and order in the state.
This comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept aside the incumbent TMC government in West Bengal. According to the data from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP stormed past the majority mark in the West Bengal assembly on Monday, winning 207 seats out of the 294 assembly constituencies.
