A day after NDA’s resounding win in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, former Union Minister of Power, RK Singh, has been suspended by the BJP over anti-party activities. The former Union minister has been given a week to reply to the local unit as to why he should be kept in the party and not suspended. Singh had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 201. 

Singh has been raising serious questions on the NDA leadership in the state of Bihar. He also raised serious doubts on the leadership of the JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar ahead of the Bihar polls.

"You are indulging in anti-party activities. This falls within the scope of the discipline. The party has taken this seriously. This has caused harm to the party. Therefore, as directed, you are being suspended from the party and asked to explain why you should not be expelled from the party. Therefore, please clarify your position within a week of receiving this letter," the party said in a notice issued to Singh in the morning. 

A former bureaucrat, Singh is a 1975 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Bihar cadre and former Home Secretary of India. He was a Member of Parliament from Arrah twice before losing out to CPI(ML)L’s Sudama Prasad in the 2024 General Elections.

During his tenure in the cabinet, he was appointed:

- Minister of Power in 2017 in the first tenure of the Narendra Modi government.

- In 2019, he was appointed Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Power, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

- In 2021, he was elevated to the rank of Cabinet Minister taking charge of the ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy.
