A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed that a landslide victory in Bihar has paved the way to victory in West Bengal, a Member of Parliament representing Trinamool Congress has responded to the PM's claim. Trinamool Congress asserted that Bengal will never accept the BJP after Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarks on West Bengal during the BJP's celebrations for its mega Bihar election victory.
PM Modi Eyes Bengal From Bihar Win
Nitish Kumar-led NDA swept the Bihar assembly election 2025 in the result declared yesterday, with JDU securing 85 seats. After the results were declared, PM Modi addressed party workers in the evening. During the event, PM Modi spoke about West Bengal and said 'Victory in Bihar has paved the way for our victory in Bengal' in his one-hour-long speech.
"The river Ganga flows to Bengal via Bihar. The victory in Bihar, like the river, has paved the way for our victory in Bengal," PM said.

TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh criticised the statement and accused the BJP of treating West Bengal as a mere piece of land that would add to the party's records.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about conquering Bengal, the conquest of Bengal, as if Bengal is another piece of land to add to his CV," the Trinamool MP said in a video message posted on her X handle this morning.
Listing five points to counter PM Modi's statement, Gosh said that the people of Bengal will not accept the politics of saam, daam, dand, bhed. Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed, is a four-step strategy to victory ( In any circumstances), rooted in ancient Indian philosophy that includes persuasion, incentives, punishments, and creating divisions.

"You will do anything to grab power. You will pay money, use muscle, intimidation, and divide and rule. The people of Bengal will not accept this saam, daam, dand, bhed version of politics where you use all possible means, foul means, just to grab power," the Trinamool MP said.
Drawing a comparison with Prime Minister Modi, Ghosh added that Mamata Banerjee is not a "hawai neta" who flies in a "hawai jahaz" (aircraft).
"She is there 24 hours among the people. She is the person who people turn to when they are in their hour of need. She is the person who is there during natural disasters. She is on the ground 24/7. No leader in India has done as much and has worked as tirelessly for the upliftment of women as Mamata Banerjee, both in terms of welfare and political representation," the MP asserted.
TMC MP Accuses Centre Of Blocking Funds
TMC called the women-centric schemes promised by the NDA in Bihar a "pre-election bribe to women" to win votes. Ghosh also accused the central government of not providing funds to Bengal as the state refused to 'dance to their tune'.
