On the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, the iconic Burj Khalifa was illuminated in the colours of the tricolour on Tuesday. The world’s tallest building also showcased quotes of "Happy Independence Day to Mother India" and "Long Live India UAE Friendship". It also displayed Mahatma Gandhi’s picture along with quotes ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Jai Hind’.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, sent his best wishes to India on his social media handle.

"As India celebrates its 77th Independence Day, I extend my congratulations to the leadership and the people of this great nation. Happy Independence Day, Swatantrata Diwas!," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In July, the Burj Khalifa lit up in tricolour as a mark of welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was on a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Burj Khalifa, a jumping skyscraper is one of Dubai's prominent tourist destinations.

On August 15, 2023, India celebrated its 77th Independence Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his 10th consecutive speech from the historic Red Fort. In his speech, PM Modi highlighted a range of achievements over the past years, reflecting India's progress in multiple sectors. He also emphasised the necessity to implement urgent reform in the armed services and said the forces should be young and battle-ready.

Meanwhile, people enthusiastically took part in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as more than 88 million selfies of people from across the country with the national flag were uploaded on the central government's Har Ghar Tiranga website till 12 noon on Tuesday.
