Champai Soren News: Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Champai Soren may switch sides and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with several MLAs of the Hemant Soren's party on Sunday. He reportedly headed to Delhi on an early morning flight with his staff amid rumours of his change in allegiance.
The political corridors from Ranchi to Delhi are buzzed over the possibility of Champai jumping ship amid JMM Supremo's legal troubles in the Land Scam case. Dashrath Gagrai, Ramdas Soren, Chamra Linda, Lobin Hembrom, and Sameer Mohanty were also reportedly joining the saffron camp.
'Still Where I Was'
Interacting with the media at Delhi airport, Soren said that he came to Delhi for some personal work and he is still where he was earlier.
"I have come here for my personal work. Abhi hum jahan par hain vahi par hain," Soren said.
Champai Met Suvendu Adhikari In Kolkata
Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren reportedly met West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata on Saturday. Lobin Hembrom, former JMM MLA who contested as an independent in the Lok Sabha elections said that Champai is in contact with BJP leadership and the time has come to oppose the ‘parivarvaad’ or dynasty politics.
Lobin's statement started speculations of Champai crossing over to the BJP. Later the rumours snowballed as many other JMM MLAs were speculated to join Champai in his pursuit. A sitting Minister of Hemant Soren-led government was also rumoured to have joined hands with Champai, News18 reported.
Assam CM's Shower Of Praises Signalled A Possible Switch
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's shower of praises on Champai Soren further fueled the rumours. “In the last five years of JMM-Congress rule in Jharkhand, if any work has been accomplished it’s during the six-month tenure of Champai Soren as the Chief Minister,” he said.
