Char Dham Yatra 2024: Uttarakhand government has begun the online registration process for Char Dham Yatra - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, with the pilgrimage sites opening on May 10. Devotees who are planning to visit these holy sites in Uttarakhand for a spiritual journey can register themselves at the official website of Uttarakhand Tourism or through toll-free and WhatsApp facility announced by the officials.

The Uttarakhand government urged the pilgrims to register themselves before the commencement of the pilgrimage as it ensures the safety and well-being of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra, especially in challenging weather conditions of the hilly state. It also aids in logistics management and emergency contact.

Char Dham Yatra Online Registration Process 

Pilgrims can register online at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or via WhatsApp by texting 'Yatra' to 8394833833. The Department of Tourism also provides a toll-free service at 0135-1364 and a smartphone app, Tourist Care Uttarakhand, for registration purposes, where pilgrims can register by submitting their personal, travel and medical information. 

Steps To Register Via Website

  • Visit www.uk.gov.in/registrationandtouristcare and select 'Register/Login'.

  • Fill in the required details in the form.

  • Verify identity through OTP sent to the provided email and mobile number.

  • Log in using the verified credentials.

  • Access the personal dashboard and select ‘Add/Manage Pilgrims or Tourists’.

  • Provide tour details, including the number of tourists, yatra dates, tour type and trip name.

  • Upload scanned ID proofs like a driving licence, voter card or Aadhar card.

  • Receive a unique registration number (URN) via SMS upon successful registration.

  • Download the Char Dham Yatra registration letter for use during the pilgrimage.

Char Dham Yatra Offline Registration

For those unable to access online services, offline registration counters are available in Rishikesh and Haridwar. Pilgrims need to present valid identification such as a voter ID, passport, PAN card or Aadhar card at one of the ten booths for registration.

How is Uttarakhand's Chota Char Dham Yatra different from Char Dham Yatra?  

The Chota Char Dham Yatra is a pilgrimage journey to four holy sites in Uttarakhand, including Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, whereas the other Char Dham Yatra also named Teerth Yatra is a pilgrimage tour to four sacred shrines located in four different states in India. The Char Dham Yatra comprises four sacred pilgrimage sites namely Badrinath in Uttarakhand, Puri in Odisha, Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu and Dwarka in Gujarat.
