Chennai Airport Update: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi Among 48 IndiGo Flights Affected; Disruptions To Continue Till Dec 10

Chennai Airport Update: Chennai Airport experienced major disruption on Saturday as 48 scheduled domestic flights were cancelled through the day. Travellers heading to major metros and popular destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Port Blair, Lucknow and Guwahati were among the most affected.

Airport officials confirmed that IndiGo, which accounts for most of the cancellations, has informed that irregular operations may continue till December 10.

Chennai IndiGo Flight Update: Cancellations Span Southern And Eastern Routes

Flights to key destinations in the south and east including Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata were withdrawn from Saturday’s schedule.

Regional connectivity, however, continued through smaller ATR aircraft on routes such as Madurai, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Vijayawada and Bengaluru. Landing and departure fees are waived for ATR passengers, although a service fee of Rs 1,500 per ticket is still applicable.

Chennai IndiGo Flight Update: Morning And Mid-Day Flight Cancellations (00:15 hrs - 15:50 hrs)

Prominent routes impacted early in the day included:

- Mumbai: Flights 6225 (00:15), 5168 (05:25), 5371 (14:45)

- Delhi: Flights 456 (02:30), 2282 (05:55)

- Hyderabad: Flight 495 (07:05)

- Pune: Flight 236 (04:55)

- Visakhapatnam: Flight 557 (06:20)

- Coimbatore: Flight 782 (08:35)

- Ahmedabad: Flight 6374 (11:40)

- Lucknow: Flight 515 (12:40)

Several services to Goa, Guwahati and Port Blair were also withdrawn.

A second wave of cancellations affected major routes after 4 PM.:

- Delhi: Flight 2761 (16:00), Flight 6818 (23:15)

- Hyderabad: Flights 6158 (16:30), 341 (21:10)

- Bengaluru: Flight 847 (16:45)

- Bhubaneswar: Flight 143 (17:50)

- Kochi: Flights 4900 (18:20), 597 (21:20)

- Coimbatore: Flight 2002 (18:25)

- Mumbai: Flight 5367 (19:00)

- Thiruvananthapuram: Flight 6001 (22:20)

- Kolkata: Flight 6324 (23:05)
