Chennai Power Cut Sept 29: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced a scheduled power suspension in parts of Chennai on Monday, September 29, 2025. The outage will take place between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm for routine maintenance work. Officials said electricity may be restored earlier if the work finishes ahead of time.

According to TANGEDCO, the shutdown is part of preventive maintenance carried out to ensure safe and reliable power supply in the long run. Engineers will inspect feeder lines, service transformers, and carry out system upgrades to avoid sudden breakdowns in the future.

In separate news, at least 36 people, including 10 children, died in a stampede during TVK leader Vijay’s rally in Karur on Saturday, Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian confirmed.
