Chennai Property Tax: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has urged all property owners in the city to register their mobile numbers on its official website to make property tax management simpler and more transparent. This initiative aims to ensure residents receive timely updates and reminders about their tax obligations.

Officials said residents can visit the GCC website, www.chennaicorporation.gov.in and verify their phone numbers using a One-Time Password (OTP). Once registered, taxpayers can easily access property tax details, view payment history and receive alerts about upcoming dues or notices.

Chennai Property Tax: Online Platform For Hassle-Free Payments

The civic body has been promoting digital payment methods to help citizens avoid queues at zonal offices and the Ripon Building headquarters. Through the website, residents can pay not just property tax but also water and sewage tax. New connection applications can also be submitted online.

Payments can be made using debit or credit cards and net banking options, offering a convenient and paperless process. GCC officials stated that the digital platform has significantly reduced delays and improved record accuracy.

Action Against Tax Defaulters

The corporation has stepped up its efforts to recover pending dues from property tax defaulters. Notices are being issued both offline and digitally, including through SMS and WhatsApp messages. Property owners who fail to pay on time may face penalties during the financial year.

According to GCC, the registration drive will strengthen communication between the civic body and citizens, making it easier to share important updates and payment reminders. Officials have advised residents to complete the registration process at the earliest to benefit from these online services.
