Tamil Nadu Weather: As Cyclone Ditwah weakens into deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal, an orange alert for heavy rain to very heavy has been issued for Tamil Nadu districts on Monday, December 1. The alert has been issued for Tiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Karaikal.

“Heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana” on 1 December, IMD stated in its bulletin. As per IMD, at 2 am on Monday, the deep depression’s centre was around 50 km from the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts.

Chennai School Holiday

In view of heavy rains and heavy waterlogging, all educational institutions (government and private) have been closed in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts  Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on December 1.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast

December 1: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and over Puducherry and Karaikal area with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvallur and Chennai.

December 2: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu and over Puducherry & Karaikal area.

December 3: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu and over Puducherry and Karaikal area with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places.
