Chennai News: A 25-year-old government school teacher was fatally stabbed by her former boyfriend on Wednesday in Thanjavur district. This attack occurred just a day after her father rejected the accused’s marriage proposal. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Madan Kumar, has since been arrested.

According to police reports, Madan entered the school premises through an open gate, where there was no security present. He approached a student to inquire about the teacher's whereabouts and was directed to the staff room. After a brief conversation with the victim, Madan suddenly attacked her, stabbing her multiple times in the stomach and neck before fleeing the scene.

Emergency services were alerted by the school staff, but the teacher succumbed to her injuries before reaching Pudukkottai government hospital.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Madan was apprehended by the Sethubavachathiram police within half an hour of the incident and a murder case has been registered against him. The victim had been working as a temporary Tamil teacher for classes 6 to 9 at Mallipattinam Government Higher Secondary School for the past six months. Both she and Madan were from the same village, Chinnamanai.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been in a relationship for about a year and a half, but the victim had recently ended it due to her parents' disapproval. Following a failed marriage proposal meeting between their fathers on November 19, Madan reportedly became enraged and committed the act the next day at around 10:15 am. He later expressed intentions of taking his own life after the murder.

Witnesses reported seeing the teacher collapse but were unable to witness the stabbing. A video showed students and locals rushing the injured teacher to an ambulance.
