Following a recent incident where several children died due to contaminated cough syrup, another health crisis is unfolding in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district. In the latest case, the entire village of Rajola has fallen ill after drinking poisonous water from a well.

According to the information, the well water was contaminated. People from about 150 households consumed this water. As a result, approximately 60 people have become sick, all suffering from vomiting and diarrhea.

Condition Of Patients Is Stable

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, teams from the local administration and the health department are present in the village. All 150 households that consumed the contaminated water were screened, and 60 individuals were found to have symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea.

The administration has set up a medical camp in the village that will operate for the next two to three days. According to doctors, the condition of all patients is stable. However, they are being kept under special observation to ensure they receive timely treatment and to prevent any untoward incidents.

Statement From The SDM

Regarding the incident, Chhindwara SDM Hemkaran Dhurve stated, "We screened 150 families yesterday. Sixty people from these families were found to be suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. We took samples of the well water and found it was contaminated. Four dead pigeons were found in the well. Today, 120 patients have been given medicine. Our medical camp will remain here for the next 2-3 days. No patient's condition is serious. Action will be taken against the Gram Panchayat for their negligence."

Water Contaminated By Dead Pigeons

According to the SDM, the water became contaminated because of four dead pigeons found in the well. Villagers have raised questions about the Gram Panchayat's role in the incident. They believe the Panchayat failed to clean the drinking water sources, including the well and water tanks, leading to this widespread illness.
