Days after an advocate tried to hurl a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, the top judge on Thursday said that the incident is a forgotten chapter for him.

He added that he and companion Judge Ujjwal Bhuyan were shocked by the incident. He said, "My learned brother and I were very shocked with what happened on Monday; for us it is a forgotten chapter."

However, Justice Bhuyan differed on the course of action on the show attack row. Justice Bhuyan said, "I have my own views on this, he is CJI, it's not a matter of joke!"

The incident took place on Monday when a 71-year-old advocate, later identified as Rakesh Kishore, approached the dais, took off his sports shoe, and attempted to throw it towards the CJI. However, the security personnel present on the site overpowered him and prevented the harm.

He was taken out of the court during which he yelled 'Sanatan ka apmaannahisahega Hindustan', hinting at a resentment towards the CJI's alleged controversial remarks while hearing a plea on Khajuraho temple idols of Lord Vishnu.

After the incident, CJI Gavai had said that he does not get distracted by the incident and such things do not affect him. He said, "Don’t get distracted by all this. We are not distracted. These things do not affect me".

The Delhi Police had detained Rakesh but released him later as the SC registry refused to press charges against him. The incident was condemned across the country, including by lawyers and politicians.
