Congress Party on Thursday released a 'Black Paper' on the Modi government’s last 10 years in response to the latter’s white paper, highlighting the country's ‘poor economic condition’ when the Congress-led UPA left power and how the incumbent government brought the turnaround.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge released the 'Black Paper' at a press conference. "We are raising the main issues of unemployment, which the BJP never talks about. There is discrimination being done with non-BJP states like Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana," Kharge said.

The government on Wednesday extended the ongoing budget session by one day as it is likely to table the white paper on economic growth comparison between the UPA and NDA. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla informed the lower house in this regard on Wednesday. Birla said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi informed him of one day of extra sitting because of urgent government business.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address rebuked the Congress over a plethora of issues. After chiding the grand old party in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, PM Modi on Wednesday lapped up the opportunity to school the Congress in Rajya Sabha as well.

He said Congress leaders, who don’t have their guarantee, were questioning the guarantees of Modi.

He took a swipe at Congress Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge for the latter’s ‘400 paar’ speech and referred to Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee's recent statement that the Congress may not cross 40 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He welcomed Kharge’s 400-seat blessing. Referring to the Congress chief's speech, PM Modi on Wednesday said, "Kharge ji has given '400 paar ashirvaad' to the BJP. The opposition cannot silence me. When will he (Kharge) get the chance to say that again?"

He also took a poetic jibe at Congress’ Rajya Sabha leader with a popular line from a Bollywood song - 'Aisa mauka fir kaha milega."I could not say it that day but I express my special gratitude to Kharge ji. I was listening to him with great attention and enjoyment that day. The lack of entertainment that we were missing in the Lok Sabha was fulfilled by him. He spoke at length as the two commandos were not in the house. He was enjoying the freedom. He had perhaps listened to the song-- Aisa mauka fir kaha milega," PM Modi said.
