Operation Sindoor Updates: In a major revelation, the Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, on Tuesday informed that the Indian Navy was also set to strike Pakistan during Operation Sindoor in May. While speaking at the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries' (UNTCC) Chiefs' Conclave, he revealed that the Navy had sailed into the Arabian Sea and was ready to strike when Pakistan called for a cessation of hostilities. The Indian security forces carried out the operation against the terrorist sites of Pakistan in response to a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, claiming 26 lives.

Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, while providing details, stated that the Navy was "very well poised" when the DGMO spoke of the ceasefire agreement. "The Indian Navy was also very much in action, ladies and gentlemen. And this is possibly a fact that is not very well known-that the Navy had sailed into the Arabian Sea, and when the DGMO spoke, it was very well poised," he stated.

He further stated that further escalation of the situation would have been "catastrophic" for the neighbouring nation from all the dimensions. "Had the enemy decided to take it any further, it could have been catastrophic for them, and not only from the sea but from other dimensions as well," the officer stated. He also informed that the Navy prioritised its targets for almost 15 days.

"Between April 22 and the night of May 6-7, the actions were evolving and unfolding. We were prioritising our targets. We carried out certain precautionary deployments on our borders to make sure that the enemy was deterred. There were numerous inter-service government departments and agencies that were coordinating," Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said.
