News Delhi: Three officials were suspended by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for their alleged involvement in the irregularities in renovating the official residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The three engineers - Pradeep Kumar Parmar, Abhishek Raj, and Ashok Kumar Rajdev - were reportedly in charge of the renovation of Kejriwal's official bungalow.
The suspended officials allegedly allowed luxurious modifications and cost inflation in the renovation on the instruction of Arvind Kejriwal. Four other employees were also suspended after their role in the rule violation, surfaced. Out of the three, Parmar is currently posted in Assam's Guwahati, while Raj is working in West Bengal's Kharagpur.
These engineers allegedly colluded with the Delhi Public Works Department Minister and allowed the construction of a new Chief Minister bungalow, invoking the urgency clause, an NDTV report stated. According to the vigilance department, no such urgency existed at the time as the nation was undergoing the COVID-19 pandemic.
CPWD has suspended its two engineers, namely, Chief Engineer, Pradeep Kumar Parmar and Superintending Engineer, Abhishek Raj for their role in the illegalities involved in the construction of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence at 6 Flag Staff Road.

According to sources, while the finance department was issuing directives on fiscal management and cutting expenditures due to the pandemic, the PWD minister reportedly pushed to expedite the new bungalow construction project, framing it as an addition or alteration to the existing structure.
The vigilance department has officially stated that the old building was demolished and a new one constructed, with a "disproportionate increase in expenditure," all under the directives of the PWD minister.
