Darshan Fan Murder Case: The man allegedly murdered by renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa died of shock and haemorrhage, NDTV reported on Friday, citing the autopsy report. The murder victim has been identified as 34-year-old Renuka Swamy, who is said to have been a fan of the accused actor. A total of 13 people, including Darshan and his purported girlfriend Pavithra Gowda, have been arrested in connection with the murder so far.
Darshan Fan Murder Case: Overview
As per the findings of the probe into the murder, Renuka Swamy, a resident of Karnataka's Chitradurga, was kidnapped, brought to Bengaluru, and kept in a shed. He was allegedly tortured to death and his body was later dumped near a gutter. When the police recovered the body and began their investigation, four individuals surrendered and confessed to the murder.

After noticing contradictions in their statements, the police grilled them further. They then reportedly divulged that they were sent by Darshan to misguide the probe. The probe suggests that Darshan and his associates tortured Renuka Swamy over an allegedly derogatory message he purportedly sent to Pavithra Gowda, also an actor, on Instagram.
The police have named Pavithra as the prime accused and Darshan as the second accused. The duo are presently in police custody, which is set to end on June 17. Swamy's body was found in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya on Sunday (June 9). On Friday, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara dismissed reports that Darshan and his associates were receiving special treatment in police custody.
