At least three police personnel were seriously injured after being hit by a white Thar at the Araghar, Dehradun checkpost early Sunday morning. The injured officers,  constables Suganpal, Sachin, and Kamala Prasad, were initially admitted to a nearby hospital and later referred to a higher medical center for treatment.

According to the Jagran.com , the incident occurred around 3:45 am when the policemen, stationed at the Araghar T-junction for vehicle checking, signaled a Thar to stop. Instead of complying, the driver rammed into them, causing severe injuries. Police have arrested the driver, identified as Mohammad Umar alias Tahir, a resident of EC Road, Dalanwala.  

In a separate incident, Chandigarh Police have arrested Neroshpreet Singh, a law student and resident of Sector 16, for allegedly ramming his Thar into two sisters in Sector 46, killing one of them.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when the speeding SUV hit Sojef and her younger sister Isha, who were rushed to GMCH-32, where Sojef was declared dead on arrival. The Thar was later recovered from Industrial Area Phase 1.

Following public outrage and a protest by the victims’ family outside the Burail police post, authorities arrested the accused. The police also transferred Gurjivan Singh, in-charge of the Burail post, for misbehaving with a news reporter covering the case; Sub-inspector Naveen Kumar has replaced him.

Officials said the Thar had received 14 challans for dangerous driving and red light violations prior to the accident.
