Dehradun News: The tragic death of 26-year-old Jyoti Pal at a private hospital in Dehradun has prompted the authorities to launch a formal investigation after her husband accused the doctors of leaving a bandage inside her abdomen during childbirth.
Authorities on Wednesday announced that a four-member committee, headed by Dehradun’s Chief Medical Officer Manoj Sharma, has been appointed to thoroughly examine the case, news agency PTI reported.
How Did A Bandage Left Inside Jyoti’s Abdomen Led To Her Death?
Prajjwal Pal, husband of Jyoti Pal, filed a complaint with the police, stating that she delivered a baby via cesarean section at the Eye and Mother Care Centre in January this year. According to Prajjwal, the doctors left a surgical bandage inside her abdomen during the surgery and stitched her up, a mistake that ultimately contributed to her death.
Though Jyoti seemed to recover well after childbirth, she soon developed intense stomach pain. Though she was taken to the same hospital for treatment, the doctors could not identify the cause of her worsening situation.
“A few days later, Jyoti began experiencing abdominal pain, after which she was taken to the same hospital, but doctors were unable to explain the cause,” Prajjwal alleged.
As her condition continued to deteriorate, Jyoti was admitted to a different hospital, where doctors found that a bandage left inside her abdomen caused a severe stomach infection. Despite treatment, she eventually succumbed to the infection.
Following the incident, Jyoti’s husband has filed a complaint with the police, and a formal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of her death.
