Delhi Pollution: The number of pollution hot spots in Delhi has risen to 62 from 13. These high-dust and high-traffic zones are now under round-the-clock monitoring to tackle winter smog, said Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday. However, the list of all 62 hot spots is not out yet.
The new spots were chosen based on traffic buildup, dust levels, and road quality. This comes with a massive city clean-up started the same day. The development came amid worsening air quality in Delhi.
Minister Sirsa checked Vasant Kunj and Mahipalpur, including spots like Bhatnagar School road, Masoodpur Dairy, the pet clinic near MCD flats, Ryan International School stretch, and the Mahipalpur Chowk, to the Vasant Valley School. He used “before” photos to see changes, told teams to add workers and machines, and increased cleaning. He also answered X's complaints with fixed photos.
Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood visited Rajouri Garden Ward 95, where locals reported delayed garbage collection and bad smells. Sood said Rs 175 crore was given to MCD to pay contractors on time and keep cleaning smooth. He warned of tough action on poor work and said more money is on the way.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma looked at Kotla Mubarakpur, where 500 weak spots are mapped. He ordered quick road fixes, clean toilets, and waste removal.
In northeast Delhi, Minister Kapil Mishra kicked off the drive at Ghonda Chowk. 37 garbage points now get daily morning checks. Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh checked Rohini in northwest Delhi.

He directed drain repairs to stop waterlogging near slums and clear encroachments from DDA land. Officials say this is a permanent change in waste and dust control. They aim for clear, real, and long-lasting gains in Delhi’s air and cleanliness.
