Delhi AQI Update: Delhi’s air quality deteriorated on Monday with the Air Quality Index (AQI) moving closer to the 'Very Poor' category, just a day after strong winds had offered the capital its first ‘Poor’ air quality reading in 16 days, breaking a long spell of ‘very poor’ air quality.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to 279 on Sunday, the second-lowest November reading after the 202 recorded on November 5, according to the CPCB's Sameer app.

According to the data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city's average AQI was recorded at 298 at 7 AM on Monday, only a few points away from reaching the 301 threshold and plunging back into the ‘Very Poor’ category.

Delhi AQI Today

Nehru Nagar in South Delhi recorded the highest pollution level within the national capital, registering an AQI of 351, placing it in the 'Very Poor' category. In contrast, NSIT Dwarka in the southwest recorded an AQI of 195, placing it in the 'Moderate' category, India Today reported.

Several pollution hotspots also reported AQI readings firmly in the 'Very Poor' range:

As per CPCB’s classification, AQI levels between 0-50 are considered 'good'; 51-100 is 'satisfactory'; 101-200 is 'moderate'; 201-300 is 'poor'; 301-400 is 'very poor'; and 401-500 falls into the most dangerous category, 'severe'.

Delhi-NCR AQI Today

In the National Capital Region (NCR), Noida was the most polluted city, recording an AQI of 316, whereas Faridabad was the least polluted city with a relatively better AQI of 208. Greater Noida (AQI 288) and Ghaziabad (AQI 291) both reported air quality in the high end of the 'Poor' category.
