Delhi Assembly Polls: After fielding former MP Sandeep Dixit, son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, against AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi assembly constituency, Congress has now prepared to corner Chief Minister Atishi in her own stronghold. Congress has released two lists for Delhi elections. The election maybe announced at any time by the Election Commission. However, poll body is yet to give official confirmation regarding the election.

To contest against Atishi from the Kalkaji assembly constituency, the party is going to field its veteran and sharp leader Alka Lamba, reports jagran.com. Alka is currently the All India Mahila Congress president and has also been an MLA from Chandni Chowk in the past. However, Lamba's candidacy against Atishi is not official yet, and Congress has not yet declared her name for the polls.

According to Jagran.com, quoting party sources, the decision to give a ticket to Alka from Kalkaji has been taken at a high level. Now only the formal announcement is pending. Soon her name will also be announced along with the remaining 23 candidates of the party. The party has already announced 47 out of 70 candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls.

Congress has already fielded former mayor Farhad Suri against former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia from Jangpura constituency. If sources are to be believed, Alka Lamba's name would have been announced in the second list itself, but it was stopped due to some opposition to this decision at the local level. Later, this opposition was ignored and rejected.
