Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Meets LG, Reviews Water And Electricity Preparedness Ahead Of Peak Summer Months

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Lieutenant Governor Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu on Monday and discussed in detail about the Delhi Government's preparedness for the upcoming summer season. Talks were held on key areas including water supply, power management, healthcare services, and disaster management.

CM Gupta said that the government’s priority is to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience during the summer. She added that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure smooth services and effective management across the city.

Weather Update

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of India are expected to witness intense thunderstorm activity in April. Apart from this, April and June will see day temperatures that are either below normal or in the normal range in many parts of the country. A wet April and milder temperatures thereafter is expected to bring some relief to people as power demand is mostly high during this period.

IMD Forecast For Summers

In the forecast released by the IMD in April, areas in East, North East, eastern parts of Central India, and peninsular regions are likely to see warmer days this summer.

The IMD noted that minimum night temperatures are expected to stay higher than usual across most regions of India. However, parts of Maharashtra and Telangana may experience normal to slightly below-normal night temperatures through June.

The combination of increased rain, thunderstorms, and persistent cloud cover is likely to keep daytime temperatures lower while preventing nights from cooling down, as clouds trap heat near the Earth’s surface.
