The Delhi government has identified 18 new bus routes to solve the traffic congestion in the Trans-Yamuna region in East Delhi. The initiative, which has been assisted by IIT Delhi, comes as the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to add 3,800 new electric buses to its fleet to ramp up the last-mile connectivity for the commuters.

According to news agency PTI, this route rationalisation has been strategically designed to extend bus services to the maximum uncovered areas. These new routes are expected to bring relief to previously unserved localities and touch over a thousand bus stops.

Delhi Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, as quoted by NDTV, said, "This route rationalisation is an important step towards making the Trans-Yamuna area commuter-friendly and reducing congestion. Our focus is to provide reliable, affordable, and last-mile green mobility solutions to every citizen of Delhi.”
